Exercise:

Exercise is not just important for big dogs; it's important for small dogs, too. It can help them from becoming overweight, help them build strong muscles, and keep them healthy. However, it is extremely important to realize that small dogs do not need the same volume of exercise that larger dogs do.

A little bit goes a long way, and if you notice your dog looking wornout, then immediately stop and let him rest. Some small dogs will keep playing even if they should not be so make sure yours does not play too long.

Take a walk around the block with your dog or let him chase you around the yard (if it is fenced). Do not chase your dog because it will train him to run away from you, which, in certain situations, can be dangerous. If there is a dog park for small dogs in your area than this can be a good place to take your dog. However, always carefully monitor your small dog, and do not let him play with dogs much bigger than he his. Teach your dog to fetch, if he does not already know how to.

You can even play hide-and-go-seek with your dog. Hide behind a door or something else; then, call your dog's name. Praise him when he "finds" you. All of these are ways that you can get your dog exercise, strengthen the bond between you and your small dog, and you might even get a little exercise.
